Megan Owlet Illustrated by Beth Anne Maresca
Megan Owlet doesn’t want to play basketball, learn karate, or practice the violin. Every day she goes and cheers her brothers on as they participate in their own activities, but one morning she wakes up and realizes she’s bored! It’s time for Megan to find something of her own to do. After an unsuccessful brainstorming session with her animal friends, Megan stumbles upon a dance studio, and with an excited screech she begins to dream big dreams of whirls and twirls. Dancing is trickier than Megan expected, but with a little help from her brothers, Megan can do anything!

From debut author and illustrator Beth Anne Maresca, Megan Owlet teaches children to pursue their own dreams and to be brave in making them happen. This is a story about love, support, and family, and parents and children alike will be enchanted by its heartwarming ending and beautiful watercolor illustrations.

Sky Pony Press, with our Good Books, Racehorse and Arcade imprints, is proud to publish a broad range of books for young readers—picture books for small children, chapter books, books for middle grade readers, and novels for young adults. Our list includes bestsellers for children who love to play Minecraft; stories told with LEGO bricks; books that teach lessons about tolerance, patience, and the environment, and much more. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.

About the author

Beth Anne Maresca, as a child, drew at home, in the car, and sometimes under the covers when she was supposed to be asleep. She always wanted to work with children and studied elementary and special education at Providence College and received her master’s degree in reading at the College of St. Rose. Beth Anne is an artist who lives with her sources of inspiration—her husband and four children—in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.

"Lovely illustrations in a light, pastel palette complement Megan’s story, which is simply told, easy to read, and makes an effective read-aloud. It will be especially resonant with children who have older siblings and are searching for their own ways to shine. The themes of determination and individuality resonate with readers who will be cheering Megan on just as loudly as her brothers do at the end of the story. Verdict: A fine addition to most general picture book collections."—School Library Journal
